Stephanie Aubourg is an accomplished leader in the maritime sector, currently serving as Chief Human Resources Officer at The CSL Group Inc., the world’s largest owner and operator of self-unloading vessels, the third-largest operator of cement carriers, and a leader in high-efficiency transshipment solutions. In addition to executive responsibilities at CSL, she is the Chair of the Canadian Marine Careers Foundation (CMCF), dedicated to advancing career opportunities and workforce development within Canada’s marine industry. With a strong commitment to fostering talent and supporting the next generation of maritime professionals, Stephanie Aubourg’s leadership continues to shape and inspire the future of marine careers across the country.
Mike Aumond was born and raised in the NWT and has deep understanding of its political and socio-economic history. Through his 31-year career with the Government of the Northwest Territories, Mike accumulated extensive experience in strategic planning, economic and policy development, governance, executive leadership, and Indigenous relations. Mike was Executive Director, Western Coalition at the Legislative Assembly from 1997 until 1999, working with Members of the Assembly, Indigenous governments, the Chamber of Commerce, and Association of Municipalities to implement the division of the NWT. In 2001, he became Director, Petroleum Products Division. From 2005 onward, Mike held several deputy minister level positions, including Secretary to Cabinet, where he led the NWT Public Service until retirement in 2019. Mike served as Vice Chair of the Board of the Northwest Territories Power Corporation from 2016 until 2019.
Erick Bergeron has led the human resources department at Groupe Desgagnés Inc. as Vice President of Human Resources since January 2023. He joined the company’s subsidiary, Transport Desgagnés Inc., in April 2022 as Crewing Director. He is very familiar with labor issues affecting the maritime industry and the importance of developing the next generation of workers. Erick holds a master’s degree in industrial relations from Laval University and has worked in human resources for over 25 years, including positions with major manufacturing companies such as Volvo Group. He has a strong passion for labor relations, occupational health and safety, and organizational development.
Terry Camsell is a lifelong northerner of Inuvialuit, Gwich’in and Metis descent who has been involved with nearly every facet of arctic marine operations. Terry spent twenty years of his career on ships, with his first posting as deckhand on the Mackenzie River and his last as captain on a large icebreaker during Beaufort Sea drilling operations. Terry came ashore in 1994 to work in marine operations with Northern Transportation
Company Ltd. As Director of Eastern Arctic Operations for NTCL, he was responsible for supply and delivery of fuel and dry cargo to 19 Nunavut communities. Terry serves as Director, Marine Transportation Services Division with the Government of the Northwest Territories. He keeps his skills as a mariner current by periodically serving as an Ice Navigator on ships operating in the arctic. Terry has always encouraged young northerners to pursue careers in the marine industry.
Tom Colosimo is an Indigenous northerner who brings over 40 years of progressive experience with the Government of the Northwest Territories. As Senior Manager in the Department of Industry, Tourism and Economic development, he worked with small businesses and individuals and was regional liaison for larger projects in the biomass, agriculture, and commercial fishing sectors, and main contact with the Marine Training Center. Tom sits on the Board of Governors of the Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation and the Board of Governors of Aurora College. He seeks to continue his
work with industry stakeholders while advancing Indigenous and northern participation in the marine sector.
Robert C. McLeod is former Chair of the Inuvialuit Development Corporation, the business division of the Inuvialuit Corporate Group. Robert served 15 years as the MLA for Inuvik Twin-Lakes, with 11 years with the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories as a member of the Executive Council responsible for several portfolios, including Housing, Municipal and Community Affairs, and Environment and Natural Resources. For the final four years of his term, he served as Minister of Finance and Deputy Premier. Robert worked 23 years with the Aklavik Housing Association and with
the Inuvik Housing Authority. Robert is pleased to bring his wide range of experience to the WAMTC board.
Joe Pottinger hails from Scotland’s Shetland Islands and has spent his working life in marine positions. Joe spent five years of his career in aquaculture before starting an officer cadetship in the oil and gas industry. He spent five years as second officer in the North Sea before returning to aquaculture as chief officer on live fish carriers. A move to Canada brought Joe to Nova Scotia, where he completed a business degree in 2020. Joe returned to marine operations as a Crewing Coordinator with Horizon Maritime in 2021, subsequently serving as Director of People. Currently, as Director of Marine Crewing Services, he leads Horizon’s contract with the Government of the Northwest Territories Marine Transportation Services. Joe grew up on an island of 1000 people where opportunities were limited and is passionate about creating marine opportunities for people from small communities.
Wally Schumann joined the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories in 2015, serving as Minister for the departments of Transportation, Environment and Natural Resources, Industry Tourism and Investment, Public Works and Services, and Infrastructure. He served as director of the Hay River Chamber of Commerce, member of the NWT Chamber of Mines Aboriginal Participation Committee, director for the NWT Manufacturer’s Association, and President of the Hay River Metis Government Council. Wally was a key member of the team that negotiated the first Impact Benefit Agreement (IBA) with De Beers Canada, the team that negotiated with Parks Canada for the creation of Thaidene Nëné National Park Reserve, and the team negotiating the NWT Metis Nation Land and Resources Agreement. A successful NWT businessperson, he developed his autobody shop into the largest sign-manufacturer and graphics business in the NWT.

The Western Arctic Marine Training Consortium seeks volunteer leaders to join its board of directors. WAMTC is a not-for-profit corporation that seeks to become Northwestern Canada’s leading provider of marine and seafarer training.
We encourage applicants with financial, legal, human resource, and media expertise, as well as those with experience in not-for-profit organizations, local workforce development, education and training, foundations, and marine, seafaring, and supply chain disciplines.
